THE LINCOLN WAS TAKEN TO A FORD DEALER FOR A WHINNING NOISE AND SMELL OF NATURAL GAS WHEN CAR IS COLD. DEALER INDICATED IT WAS NOISE FROM SCORED ROTORS. ON JANUARY 18,2012 SOUND GREW WORSE AND SOUNDED LIKE PARTS WERE GRINDING. TOOK TO A DEALER AND THE DEALER INDICATED THE TRANSFER CASE WAS FAILING, PARTS WERE DISENTEGRATING IN CASE (CALLED IT A PLU). THE RECOMMENDATION WAS NOT TO DRIVE BECAUSE DANGEROUS IF FAILS AND COULD ALSO REQUIRE NEW TRANSMISSION. *TT |

DRIVING AT 35 MPH, TRIED TO SLOW DOWN FOR A STOP LIGHT. CAR WOULD NOT SLOW, BRAKES WERE INEFFECTIVE AGAINST THE MOTOR THAT WAS STUCK ACCELERATING. I PUT CAR IN NUETRAL ( AS CAR ENGINE RACED) AND COASTED INTO A BUSINESS PARKING LOT. I SHUT OFF CAR AND RESTARTED. ENGINE REVS WERE NORMAL.
