SUDDENLY, 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING A 2008 MERCURY MILAN PREMIER FROM A LINCOLN MERCURY DEALERSHIP, I NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF RUST IN THE SEAT BRACKETS AND POWER SEAT HARDWARE ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. THE CAR HAD 6,900 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT IT AS A CPO VEHICLE. I ALSO BOUGHT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY OCTOBER 11, 2010 AND THEY SAID THE RUST WAS NORMAL (I DISAGREE). THE RUST IS NOW SEEPING INTO THE CARPET AS WELL. YESTERDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2010, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT CERTIFIED MECHANIC FOR AN OPINION. HE CONCURS THAT IT IS NOT NORMAL AND POSSIBLY A SAFETY HAZARD. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT RETURNED MY PHONE CALLS THIS CAR IS PRACTICALLY NEW AND I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT AN ACCELERATING AMOUNT OF RUST ON MY VEHICLE IS SAFE, ATTRACTIVE OR NORMAL. THERE IS ALSO AN EXHAUST NOISE (CONFIRMED BY THE DEALERSHIP) BUT THEY SAID FORD WILL NOT FIX IT SINCE IT ISN'T A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS CAR IS PRACTICALLY BRAND NEW. THE CAR BELONGED TO A COUPLE WHO ONLY DROVE IT IN THE SUMMER IN MICHIGAN SINCE THEY STAYED IN FLORIDA IN THE WINTER. IT IS PRISTINE EXCEPT FOR THOSE 2 DANGEROUS PROBLEMS. I FEEL THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT IS TIME CONSUMING AND COSTLY. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO TELL ME THAT TAKING THE SEAT APART WILL "WEAKEN" IT AND "IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME". CARS ARE TAKEN APART EVERY DAY AND PEOPLE TOO! THAT'S WHAT DOCTORS AND MECHANICS ARE FOR. PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE THE SEAT SEPARATES FROM THE FRAME AND I HAVE AN ACCIDENT. *TR

DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH ON 11/16/2011 WHEN VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, ENGINE STILL RUNNING BUT NO RESPONSE TO ACCELERATOR. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS MINIMAL TRAFFIC AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST AND EXIT THE HIGHWAY INTO A TRUCK STOP. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A STATION THAT IDENTIFIED A THROTTLE ACTUATOR SHUTDOWN. SYSTEM WAS RESET BUT NO OTHER PROBLEM COULD BE IDENTIFIED AT THAT TIME. THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON 6/15/2012, TRAVELING AT APPROX. 40 MPH ON A BACK ROAD, NO OTHER TRAFFIC, WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL TO THE SIDE. VEHICLE MILEAGE AT TIME OF SECOND INCIDENT WAS APPROX 100,040. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE THE PART TO BE REPLACED WAS IDENTIFIED. MY CONCERN IS THIS REPRESENTS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD WERE THIS TO OCCUR ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. THERE IS ALSO A HARD JARRING OF THE TRANSMISSION WHEN THE THROTTLE SHUTDOWN OCCURS. *TR
