I DRIVE A 2007 MAZDA CX-7. DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, I NOTICED MY AIR CONDITIONING WAS NOT AS COLD AS IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN. I PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE AND CAME TO A STOP WHERE I NOTICED WHITE SMOKE FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY HOOD, I HEARD A LOUD AND UNPLEASANT NOISE AS WELL AS A HORRIBLE SMELL COMING FROM MY CAR. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR BACK TO MY RESIDENCE; HOWEVER, AFTER TURNING MY CAR OFF IT WOULD NO LONGER START. I HAD TO TOW MY CAR TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. TURNS OUT THE AIR COMPRESSOR LOCKED UP AND THE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIR COMPRESSOR IS $900+. MY CAR HAS NOT YET TURNED 40,000 MILES. AFTER A COUPLE INTERNET SEARCHES (WWW.EDMUNDS.COM) IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THIS INSTANCE OF THE AIR COMPRESSOR LOCKING UP AND MAKING THE AUTOMOBILE UNUSABLE IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MY PARTICULAR MODEL AND YEAR CAR. PURCHASED VEHICLE ON 2/27/2011. 1) DEC 27 2011 REPLACED DRIVERS HEADLAMP. 2) 4/18/12 BATTERY ISSUE. CAR WOULD NEED JUMP STARTS RANDOMLY 3) 8/18/12 PASSENGER HEADLAMP REPLACED 4) 11/5/12 BATTERY REPLACED 5) 12/21/12 DRIVERS HEADLAMP REPLACED 6) 7/1/13 DRIVERS HEADLAMP REPLACED. WENT TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS TO REPLACE ITEMS. BOTH DEALERS ASSURED ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ELECTRICAL AND IT WAS JUST ONE OF THOSE THINGS. UNFORTUNATELY 4 HEADLAMPS AND A BATTERY WITHIN 2 YEARS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE IS JUST RIGHT. *TR
