TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK WHILE IT WAS DEPRESSED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY ACCELERATE AND THE CRUISE CONTROL TO FAIL. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

ORIGINAL SPEEDOMETER FAILED AT 21745 MILES BY BECOMING ERRATIC AT SPEEDS OF ABOUT 55 MPH. THE METER WOULD SOMETIMES READ AS HIGH AS 90 MPH. THIS METER WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AND NOW THE REPLACEMENT UNIT IS FAULTY AT 23300 MILES. A BRIEF SCAN OF YOUR ODI IDS INDICATES THE PROBLEM IS GENERIC WITH THESE DEVICES AS SOME UNITS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 AND 4 TIMES. IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD HAVING THOUSANDS OF FORDS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH FAULTY SPEEDOMETERS AND THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED.
