I HAVE A 2007 FORD MUSTANG 4.0 V6 WITH APPROXIMATELY 42K MILES. IT HAS RECENTLY DEVELOPED A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT WHICH THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE. FOR NO APPARENT REASON, WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AND WITH MY FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BREAK PEDAL,, THE ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY GO FULL THROTTLE. THIS FORCES THE CAR TO SUDDENLY LUNGE FORWARD AS THE REAR TIRES START SPINNING, OVERRIDING THE FRONT BREAKS. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO COME DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO COLLIDING WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME OR ENTERING AN INTERSECTION INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE ONLY RECOURSE IS TO QUICKLY TURN OFF THE IGNITION WHICH SEEMS TO RESET THE PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENS WITH SOME REGULARITY, APPROXIMATELY 2 TO 3 TIMES A DAY BUT IS NOT REPRODUCIBLE ON DEMAND. THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS OFFERED TO INVESTIGATE, AT MY EXPENSE, BUT WITH NO ASSURANCE THAT THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE CORRECTED. I HAVE HAD TO ALTER THE WAY THAT I DRIVE TO COMPENSATE FOR THIS BY LEAVING ADDITIONAL SPACE BETWEEN MY CAR AND THE ONE IN FRONT OF ME AND AT INTERSECTIONS. I FEAR THAT I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PREVENT MY VEHICLE FROM BECOMING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. *TR

CAR WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEARS. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO ENTER THE GEAR I DESIRE, CAUSING THE CAR TO SUDDENLY LOOSE MOMENTUM LEAVING ME IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IN TRAFFIC. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME NUMEROUS TIMES CROSSING INTERSECTIONS AND ENTERING THE HIGHWAY ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION.
