TRAVELING SOUTH ON CA. HIGHWAY 99 THROUGH MACFARLAND CA. ON 11-20-2002 AT APPROX. 2215 HRS THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEWOUT. WE WHERE TRAVELING AT APPROX. 72 MPH ON STRAIGHT FLAT STRETCH OF HWY AND WERE ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION OF THE TIRE, I NOTICED THAT THE SIDEWALL HAD BLOWN OUT. THE TAHOE WAS PURCHASE ON AUG. 9TH OF 2002, AND ONLY HAD ABOUT 3842 MILES. WE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING, THE TIRE JUST FAILED.*AK

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE LTZ. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE RESIDENCE AND IGNITED INTO INTENSE FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND THE FORENSIC INVESTIGATOR INFORMED THAT THE FIRE WAS RELATED TO A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V240000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS). THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCED THE CONSEQUENCE OF A FIRE WHICH WAS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PREVIOUSLY UNDER THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V441000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM).THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY ADVISED THAT AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATOR WOULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 56,000.
