INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) I OWN A 1992 4X4 TOYOTA PICKUP (VIN #[XXX]) I READ AN ARTICLE LAST WEEK IN THE WASHINGTON POST SAYING THAT THIS YEAR TOYOTA PICKUPS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR FAULTY STEERING AND LINKAGE RODS. I ALSO READ A PRESS RELEASE ON NHTSA WEBSITE ABOUT IT. I CALLED TOYOTA, AND BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND THE 800 HOTLINE TELL ME THAT MY VIN # IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. MY PICKUP HAS ALWAYS MADE BINDING NOISES WHEN I MAKE HARD TURNS. SO GIVEN THE QUESTION OF TOYOTA'S VERACITY IN ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM, I WANT TO REPORT THE COMPANY'S REFUSAL TO DO THE RECALL WORK. I HAVE SEEN NO OTHER INFORMATION FROM NHTSA OR ANYWHERE ELSE THAT SOME VIN NUMBERS ARE EXEMPTED.
