I HAVE A 2003 NISSAN MURANO THAT HAS A BROKEN SEAT TRACK. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS FAILURE, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON FAILURE AND THAT THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS TO BUY THE ENTIRE BOTTOM SEAT ASSEMBLY FROM NISSAN. WHILE DRIVING ON I95 THE DRIVER'S SEAT BROKE AND BEGAN ROCKING BACK AND FORTH. I MANAGED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR TILL I GOT HOME AND PROPPED THE SEAT UP WITH WOOD BLOCKS. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM FROM MURANO OWNERS, 41 EXACT SAME COMPLAINTS ON THE FIRST SITE I VIEWED. NISSAN ADMITS NO FAULT AND RECOMMENDS A $1200 REPAIR. I CALLED MY NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY SEE THIS PROBLEM CONSTANTLY, BUT CAN USUALLY MAKE A WELD REPAIR FOR ABOUT $70. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY QUADRUPLED THE PRICE TO $300 FOR THE WELD. WHEN I BALKED, THE MECHANIC AND THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME I HAD TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE AS IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. I AGREE, IT CERTAINLY IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. SHOULDN'T NISSAN ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR DESIGN FLAW BEFORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED?
