ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
NOTICED INTERMITTENT ISSUE WHEN DRIVING ON HWY, CAR ENGINE WILL STOP/HESITATE CAUSING THE CARD TO DECREASE SPEED SUDDENLY. AFTER 10+ SECONDS THE CAR WILL RESUME FUNCTIONING NORMALLY, THE CHECK ENGINE SENSOR WILL ALSO COME ON. WHEN DIAGNOSING THE CODE AT A LOCAL AUTOPART SELLER I RECEIVE A CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR ISSUE. THIS ISSUE CAUSE THE CAR TO SUDDENLY DECELERATE, WHICH COULD CAUSE SIGNIFICANT INJURY. I HAVE LOCATED AN NHTSA CAMPAIGN THAT DESCRIBES A RECALL FOR 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5L, STATING THAT THE "CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CAN OVERHEAT CAUSING A BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL OUTPUT FROM THE SENSOR", THE CAMPAIGN CONTINUES WITH "THE INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL FROM THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS SO BRIEF THAT THE ECM LOGIC DOES NOT HAVE TIME TO FIX THE ISSUE WHICH CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STOP SUDDENLY. I HAVE CONTACTED THE NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT AND THEY WILL NOT EVEN RECOGNIZE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 07V527000. I HAVE BEEN QUOTED BY THE DEALERSHIP FOR 350 DOLLARS FOR THE PART. *TR
