TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SWITCHED INTO LOW GEAR AND ATTEMPTED TO STOP WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO RAN DIAGNOSTICS, BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THEY ALSO INSPECTED THE BRAKES AND TRANSMISSION, BUT THE DIAGNOSTICS DID NOT GENERATE ANY FAILURE CODES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THAT THEY CORRESPONDED WITH THE DEALER, BUT COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE, AND COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,138 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,000.

AIR CONDITIONING ON THE 2006 ODYSSEY STOPPED WORKING AFTER 10 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. WE WERE TOLD THAT DEBRIS HAD HIT THE CONDENSER AND CAUSED A LEAK. SINCE THIS WAS NOT CONSIDERED A DEFECT IN THE PART IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, IT APPEARED WE WERE NOT THE ONLY 05/06 ODYSSEY OWNERS WITH THIS PROBLEM. THIS SEEMED TO BE A DESIGN/ENGINEERING FLAW THAT ALLOWED FOR DAMAGE TO OCCUR SO EASILY. OTHER INTERNET POSTS REVEALED THAT OWNERS WERE HAVING TO ENGINEER THEIR OWN FIXES TO PROTECT THE CONDENSER, SO THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANOTHER $800 BILL. THIS SHOULD BE HONDA'S RESPONSIBILITY. *AK
