TURNED ENGINE ON AGAIN. STILL REVVED UP. DEPRESSED CLUTCH HALF-WAY AGAIN TO MOVE THE CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC INTO A PARKING LOT. SWITCHED ENGINE OFF AND COASTED TO A STOP INSIDE PARKING LOT. ACCORDING TO THE FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS, STANDARD 208 SECTION 4.5.1(C), SUN VISORS MUST HAVE AIR BAG WARNING LABELS. HONDA CURRENTLY PROVIDES THESE WARNINGS ON THE SUN VISORS. HOWEVER, IF THE SUN VISOR BREAKS, THEN I WOULD BE FORCED TO REMOVE THE SUN VISOR IN ORDER TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE SAFELY. ONCE OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD, THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER BE OPERATED IN COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL REGULATIONS. HONDA IS CURRENTLY BEING SUED IN COOPER, ET AL. V. AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO., INC., CASE NO. BC 448670 BECAUSE OF THE SUN VISOR BREAKING ON A REGULAR BASIS. BY SETTLING THE CASE, THEY ARE ESSENTIALLY ADMITTING THE SUN VISOR IS PRONE TO BREAKING. I DO NOT BELIEVE A CAR OWNER SHOULD PAY TO REPLACE A REQUIREMENT FOR FEDERAL STANDARDS. *KB
