TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SLOWLY TO THE DEALER WITH THE HAZARD LIGHTS ACTIVATED. THE TECHNICIANS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL REMAINING IN THE VEHICLE DESPITE THE OIL LEVEL GAUGE INDICATING THAT THERE WAS OVER 80 PERCENT OF OIL REMAINING IN THE VEHICLE. AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND A SOFTWARE UPDATE WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE AND THE SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED YET, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL SHORTLY AFTER REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. |

THE ACCELERATOR STUCK AND I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN. I ATTEMPTED PULLING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, PUTTING THE CAR IN FIRST GEAR, AND APPLYING THE BREAK WITH NO RESPONSE. THIS INCIDENT WAS RECORDED ON A 911 CALL THAT I MADE DURING THE ENTIRE EVENT. I DID GIVE DETAILS OF WHAT I WAS DOING TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM ACCELERATING HOWEVER ALL MEASURES FAILED. I DID EVENTUALLY PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE KEY TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. HONDA IS NOW DENYING ANY MALFUCTION.*AK |
