AT TEST DRIVE NOTED LOW HEAD RESTRAINT LOCATION AT FULL UP EXTENSION= UNCOMFORTABLE TO BACK BONE, AND HEAD. AFTER PURCHASE NOTED THAT GM SUPPLIED OWNERS MANUAL FOR THIS NEW MODEL US CAR SECTION 2-2 HAD DESCRIPTION (WARNING NOTATION & PICTURE DIAGRAM OF THE PROPER ADJUSTMENT), BUT DUE TO THE RESTRAINTS DESIGN (TOO SHORT OF NOTCHED EXTENSION RODS) THE SAFE, AND COMFORTABLE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT CANNOT BE ACHIEVED. CURRENTLY I HAVE EXTENDED THE DRIVERS UNIT ABOUT 2 1/2 INCHES ABOVE ITS HIGHEST LOCKING POSITION (TAPED IN PLACE) WHICH BRINGS IT CLOSE TO THE DEPICTION IN THE MANUAL = A COMFORTABLE DRIVING POSITION. I HAVE TAKEN THE PROBLEM TO THE NEW AMERICAN GENERAL MOTORS UP 3 LAYERS OF MANAGEMENT (1. DEALERSHIP, 2. CUSTOMERS SUPPORT, AND FINALLY 3.EXECUTIVE OFFICES DETROIT ONLY TO BE TOLD IN A PHONE CALL 5-26-10 THAT THERE IS NO FIX FOR MY CONCERN, AND THAT THE OPERATIONS OWNERS MANUAL MY NOT REFLECT CORRECTLY THE DESIGN OF THE HEAD RESTRAINT PLACEMENT. THIS COMMENT WAS REPEATED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP IN HIS STATEMENT TO ME THAT MY ACTIONS WERE NOT SAFE, AND THAT HE WAS SURE THERE WAS PROBABLY A DISCLAIMER IN THE OWNERS MANUAL PRINTING. *TR

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
I HAVE A 2.5 MONTH OLD 2011 GMC TERRAIN. AT 4984 MILES IT IS IN THE SHOP FOR STALLING, FOR A HORRIBLE RATTLE UPON START UP, AND FOR IT JERKING BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THIS MORNING IT HAD STALLED SIX TIMES WITHIN THE PAST 2 DAYS. IT STALLS AFTER START-UP IN FORWARD AND REVERSE AND IT STALLED THREE TIMES WHILE IN IDLE IN A FAST FOOD DRIVE-THRU. THERE IS ALSO THE RATTLING WHICH HAPPENS ON COLD AND WARM STARTS, WHETHER THE A/C OR ECO MODE ARE ON. IT SOUNDS LIKE METAL RATTLING AND LIKE IT IS HARMING THE ENGINE. THE LEAST OF MY WORRIES, IS THE FACT THAT BETWEEN 25-35 MILES AN HOUR THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD AND KICKS MYSELF AND PASSENGERS FORWARD. APPARENTLY THERE IS A TECH BULLETIN THAT HAS BEEN OUT FOR THE RATTLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. WHY NOT FIX THEM BEFORE THEY SELL THEM? ALSO, THERE IS A RECALL #11195 FOR "ROUGH IDLE, POOR DRIVEABILITY" THAT DOESN'T SHOW UP ON THE NHTSA SITE OR ANYWHERE ELSE BUT THE GMC DEALER'S COMPUTER. ADDITIONALLY, DESPITE THE CLAIMS, I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN BETTER THAN 21 MPG WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR INCLUDING AN ALL HIGHWAY TRIP FROM MICHIGAN TO INDIANA. I THINK IT IS FALSE ADVERTISING AND THE FUEL ECONOMY IN ECO OR NOT IS NOT WHAT THEY CLAIM WHEN THE Y SOLD THE VEHICLE TO ME. *TR
