LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES
LATCH/LOCK ON CENTER CONSOLE/JUMP SEAT FAILURE. THE PLASTIC LATCH FOR THE LID ON THE CENTER CONSOLE, WHICH IS ALSO A JUMP SEAT WHEN UPRIGHT, HAS FAILED. THE RESULT IS THE LID CAN BECOME OPEN IF THE SEAT IS TILTED UP TO USE AS A JUMP SEAT, OR IF DOWNWARD PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE REAR OF THE LID, OR IF YOU HIT A BUMP OR IF YOU ARE IN A CRASH. THE CONTENTS OF THE COMPARTMENT CAN BE RELEASED AND POSE AN IMMINENT DANGER TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE IN THE RESULT OF A CRASH OR OTHERWISE BECOME A DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER. THE PLASTIC LATCH IS NOT AVAILABLE AS A REPLACEMENT PART FROM GMC. THE ENTIRE CONSOLE MUST BE PURCHASED FOR $450 TO REPLACE LATCH AND IT HAS THE SAME DEFECTIVE LATCH. *TR

SEAT BELTS:FRONT:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED TWICE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY 15 TIMES SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN AUGUST OF 2007. THE DEALER TURNED THE ROTORS AND CHANGED THE BRAKES AND THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED AND THE BED OF THE VEHICLE SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME. THE ENGINE LIFTERS FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY AS WELL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,100.
