SERVICE BRAKES
LOOKED UNDER MY TRUCK AFTER MY BRAKES FAILED WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. WAS SURPRISED AT HOW RUSTY ALL THE LINES ARE. AAA TOWED MY TRUCK HOME. I SPENT THE NEXT 3 DAYS REPLACING BRAKE LINES. NOW I NOTICED THE LINES FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER ARE RUSTY AS WELL. NOW I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THOSE AS WELL. I'VE NEVER HAD BRAKE LINES RUST OUT LIKE THESE HAVE. MY WIFE DRIVES A LITTLE 1999 ESCORT AND THE BRAKE LINES ON THAT ARE FINE. WHAT THE HECK THIS IS ALL THE USE YOU CAN EXPECT ON A GMC SIERRA? *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO PULSATE UPON ENGAGEMENT WITH A SUDDEN ACTIVATION OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS). AS A RESULT, THERE WAS A DELAYED RESPONSE IN BRAKING TO A STOP. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES AS THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS OF 10 MPH OR LESS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT BOTH FRONT ABS SPEED SENSORS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
