TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT WAS REFUELING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE NOZZLE SHUT OFF AND GASOLINE BEGAN SPEWING FROM THE VEHICLE FILLER NECK. THE CONTACT ASSUMED THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE FUEL PUMP AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SECOND GASOLINE STATION WHERE THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOLDED VALVE AND CONTROL VALVE WAS FAILING AND THE TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V034000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
EVERY TIME I GAS UP MY 2006 DODGE DURANGO, THE GAS PUMP WILL SHUT OFF FROM BEING FULL, BUT A COUPLE SECONDS LATER, GAS WILL SPRAY OUT OF THE TANK WITH THE NOZZLE STILL IN PLACE, USUALLY SPRAYING MYSELF OR MY WIFE AND GASOLINE WITH THEN RUN DOWN THE SIDE OF THE CAR CAUSING ISSUES WITH PAINT, BUT ALSO LEAVING A PUDDLE OF GASOLINE. I FEAR THIS IS A HAZARD, NOT ONLY FOR THE REASONS OF A POSSIBLE FIRE, BUT I FEAR THAT THE GASOLINE ON MYSELF OR MY WIFE WILL IGNITE OR THAT IT WILL OTHERWISE CAUSE RESPIRATORY OR SKIN ISSUES. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW, JUST AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED (OF COURSE). I FEAR NO RECOURSE WITH DODGE, THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT I KNOW THIS HAPPENS TO MANY MANY OTHERS. *TR
