2002 - DODGE DAKOTA: TRUCK MECHANICALLY SOUND WHEN IT COMES TO THE ENGINE. RECENTLY HAD A TUNE-UP & 27 POINT INSPECTION @ 50,000 MILES AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS NEED REPLACEMENT AND WOULD COST ABOUT $1200.00 TO FIX. THE DEALERS MECHANIC ASKED IF I HAVE BEEN HEAR A "CLUNKING" SOUND WHEN MAKING SHARP TURNS. I ADVISED THE MECHANIC THAT THIS SOUND STARTED HAPPENING AROUND 30,000 MILES BUT DID NOT PAY TO MUCH ATTENTION. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP IF IT WAS COMMON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN SO PREMATURELY. NO ANSWER. ANY RECALLS IN THE WORKS. THERE SEEMS TO BE MAY ISSUES FROM OTHERS SURROUNDING THE BALLJOINTS!!! IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE ADDITIONAL COST OF $1200.00 MAYBE I WOULD NOT HAVE CONSIDERED PURCHASING THE TRUCK IN THE FIRST PLACE.*AK FP

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE DAKOTA. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE CONTACTS HUSBAND DECELERATED. AS HE APPLIED THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE INCREASED TO 20-25 MILES PER HOUR. THE CONTACT HAS NOTIFIED A LOCAL AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNLESS THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES. AS OF AUGUST 10, 2007, THE VEHICLE IS BEING SERVICED AND THE CONTACT IS WAITING TO FIND OUT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 5,000.
