ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL
WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY (35-40 MPH ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD) IN DRY CONDITIONS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND THE ONBOARD ERROR MESSAGE READS "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK, ENGINE POWER DOWN." CONSEQUENTLY, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TRAVEL FASTER THAN APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND STEERING SHARPLY BECOMES DIFFICULT. THIS ERROR HAS OCCURRED TWICE IN THE 11 WEEKS WE HAVE HAD OUR NEW 2009 SILVERADO 2500 HD. WITH THE FIRST REPAIR (ODOMETER 1101 MILES), THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. THEY JUST RESET THE COMPUTER. THE SECOND REPAIR WAS 4 DAYS AGO (3948 MILES). THEY FOUND THE "I/P TO BODY HARNESS CONNECTOR CORRODED, CLEANED THE TERMINALS, AND APPLIED DIELECTRIC GREASE." WE ARE EXTREMELY FEARFUL THAT THIS DEFECT WILL OCCUR AGAIN WHILE WE ARE TOWING A 5500 POUND TRAVEL TRAILER. WITHOUT STEERING, STABILITY AND ENGINE POWER A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR. WHEN MY CONCERNS WERE EXPLAINED TO THE LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP, THE GENERAL MANAGER STATED THAT HE COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT THEY COULD FIX OUR TRUCK OR GUARANTEE IT WOULD BE SAFE TO TOW A TRAILER. *TR

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC:ROTOR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED ALL FOUR BRAKE ROTORS PITTED DUE TO RUST BUILD UP. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AT 45MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST USE OF THE REAR BRAKES. HOWEVER, NO INCIDENTS OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE ROTORS AND DETERMINED THE ROTORS WERE NORMAL, NO REPAIRS WERE MADE.
