TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP GEARS. THE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TUNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY DETECTED THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ENCODER MOTOR FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE PART HAD BEEN REPLACED LESS THAN TWO YEARS AGO. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
