A FUEL LEAK IN THE AREA OF THE FUEL TANK WAS DETECTED. AT FIRST IT WAS THOUGHT THAT THE TANK HAD CRACKED, BUT AFTER THE FUEL TANK WAS DROPPED A CRACKED PLASTIC SUPPLY LINE LEADING INTO THE FUEL PUMP WAS FOUND. I HAD THE MODULE REPLACED AT MY OWN EXPENSE. AFTER THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED I HEARD OF A RECALL ISSUED BY GM FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM, BUT WHEN I CONTACTED THEM THEY SAID THAT THE RECALL WAS SPECIFIC TO CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS THAT WERE LOCATED IN THE STATES OF ARIZONA, NEVADA AND TEXAS AND AS MY VEHICLE IS REGISTERED IN NY THIS RECALL DOES NOT COVER MY VEHICLE. HOW CAN A SAFETY RECALL BE ISSUED FOR A SPECIFIC PROBLEM AND NOT COVER ALL VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE RISK OF FIRE FROM MY LEAKY FUEL PUMP WAS THE SAME AS THE CARS LOCATED IN THOSE OTHER STATES. THIS MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE TO ME. A SAFETY DEFECT IS A SAFETY DEFECT, NO MATTER WHAT STATE A CAR IS IN AND SHOULD APPLY TO ALL VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE SAME DEFECT.. GM'S REFUSAL TO REMEDY THIS IS UNCONSCIONABLE AND DOES NOTHING TO ENHANCE THERE REPUTATION OF BUILDING QUALITY CARS AND STANDING BEHIND THEM. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ON. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, ACCELERATION POWER REDUCED DRAMATICALLY AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 3 MPH. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT BOTH HEADLIGHTS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED EVERY 3 MONTHS AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO OPERATE WHEN ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NO OTHER REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
