2007 335I WENT SUDDENLY INTO A LIMP MODE WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD. CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST REAR-ENDED ME DUE TO THE SUDDEN SLOW DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR AND DRIVE INTO A PARKING LOT. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME MY FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED. THEY HAVE PROMISED TO GET IT REPAIRED IN COUPLE OF DAYS. MY CAR JUST HAD 6000 MILES AND IT IS NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD. I SAW ON THE INTERNET THAT LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE WAY BACK FROM 2006. IF BMW WAS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, WHY DID THEY NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SELLING THE CAR? *TR

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM
BMW 335 COUPE HPFP (HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FOR DIRECT INJECTION) FAILED BEFORE 4,000 MILES. NO SIGNS OF FAILURE, CAR STARTED TO RUN ROUGH, WENT INTO "LIMP" MODE, AND THEN WOULD NOT RESTART WITHOUT DYING AGAIN AFTER A FEW MOMENTS. CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS FUEL PUMP FAILURE. I HAD TO WAIT 7+ WEEKS WITH THE CAR IN SERVICE BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP WAS ON INTERNATIONAL BACKORDER WITH 400+ UNITS ON BACKORDER! PUMP WAS REPLACED AFTER BEING IN THE SHOP FOR 7+ WEEKS, AND CAR IS RUNNING GOOD AGAIN.
