I PURCHASED A NEW 2004 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT ON SEPT 30,2004. ON OCT 1, 2004 I DISCOVERED DEFECTIVE PAINT ON THE LEFT FRONT FENDER NEAR THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT(APPEARS TO BE A CHEMICAL CONTAMINANT AS WELL AS GRAZING OF THE BASE COAT), DENT ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE RIGHT HAND PASSENGER DOOR, WELDING SPLATTERS ON THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER, DENTS ON THE INSIDE OF THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER, RIGHT FRONT FENDER IS WARPED. ALL BODY DAMAGE APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN PRE-DELIVERY. DEALER SERVICE PERSONNEL TOLD ME TO IGNORE THE PAINT DAMAGE. I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THE VEHICLE LEFT THE FACTORY IN THIS CONDITION. WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, I WAS MOVING THE SHIFTER TO REVERSE AND HEARD A CLUNK SOUND. IT WAS NOT A SMOOTH SHIFT. IMMEDIATELY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I BACKED THE VEHICLE OUT OF SPACE AND MOVE THE AUTOMATIC SHIFTER TO DRIVE AND HEARD ANOTHER CLUNKING NOISE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. AS I TRIED TO PICK UP SPEED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT AND THE RPM'S WENT HIGHER AND HIGHER. WE DROVE THE CAR UP TO 40 MPH AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT. SO WE DECIDED TO TAKE THE CAR HOME AND NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE AS THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY OR NOT AT ALL. *TR
