SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES AT 65 MPH, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, TO AVOID A CAR THAT SWERVED IN FRONT OF ME. SHORTLY AFTER, NORMAL BRAKING RESULTED IN A DANGEROUS WOBBLE IN THE FRONT WHEELS. I BROUGHT TO A HONDA DEALER THE NEXT DAY WHO ADVISED THE BRAKE CALIPERS WERE WARPED BECAUSE I HAD SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES. THE DEALER INSPECTION REPORTED FRONT BRAKES HAD 75% LIFE LEFT (WHICH IS INDICATIVE OF MY MODERATE DRIVING STYLE), BUT WERE REPLACED WHEN THE CALIPERS WERE GROUND TO ELIMINATE THE WARPING. DEALER SERVICE REP ADVISED THE WARPING COULD HAPPEN ANY TIME I WENT DOWN A HILL OR SLAMMED ON MY BREAKS. WHICH TO ME IS NORMAL USE. I COMPLAINED THAT THE CALIPERS WERE SERIOUSLY UNDERBUILT AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE TOO EXPENSIVE FOR HONDA TO MAKE MORE ROBUST ONES FOR THEIR CARS. IN OTHER WORDS, I SHOULD EXPECT TO GET WARPED FRONT CALIPERS FROM NORMAL EVERYDAY DRIVING. BASICALLY I AM STATING THAT HONDA HAS SCRIMPED ON THE QUALITY OF THEIR HONDA ACCORD FROM BRAKE CALIPERS AND THE CONSUMER HAS TO PAY FOR IT. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO HONDA AND WAS TOLD THAT I COULD EXPECT THIS PROBLEM IN EVERYDAY DRIVING ON HILLS (I LIVE IN CT) OR FROM SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES. *TR

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
MY 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX V6 HAS ABOUT 88K ON IT. WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 45MILES/PER HOUR THE CAR STARTED JERKING, THEN IT STARTED REVVING THE ENGINE, INCREASING THE RPM'S TO 5000 REVS EVEN WHEN MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE CAR WOULDN'T GO FASTER THAN 15/MILES PER HOUR. ITS BEEN TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHERE THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS GONE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I WAS SHOCKED BECAUSE I'VE NEVER HEARD OF A CAR'S TRANSMISSION FAILING BEFORE HITTING 100K, LET ALONE A HONDA WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE RELIABLE. I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND 100'S OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2004 HONDA ACCORDS WITH TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, AND ONE OF THE POST LED ME TO THIS WEBSITE. I'M A VERY CAREFUL DRIVER AND MOST OF THE MILEAGE PUT ON THE CAR HAS BEEN HIGHWAY MILES. I CALLED A LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS AND TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION WOULD COST ME ABOUT $3500. PLEASE HELP IN THIS CASE AS I'M SURE YOU'VE GOTTEN SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLE WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT HONDA NEEDS TO HAVE SOME TYPE OF RECALL. *TR
