VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY SOMEONE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE WHILE IT WAS PARKED AT HIS RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FLAMES WERE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE CONTACT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT NHTSA RECALL 07V336000, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 146000.

THE FRAME JUST IN FRONT OF THE REAR TIRES ON BOTH SIDES IS GETTING THIN WITH SMALL HOLES IN IT. ALSO THE CROSSMEMBER BEHIND THE TRANSFER CASE THAT HOLDS THE FRONT GAS TANK SUPPORT IS ROTTED OUT PRETTY BAD AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE REAR LEAF SPRING SHACKLES ARE GETTING PRETTY THIN AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED SOON.
