BALL JOINTS SHOULD LAST FOR 100,000 MILES THIS ALONG WITH THE TIRES IN QUESTION SHOULD MAKE YOU LOOK AT FORD FOR THE CURRENT TIRE FAILURES . IF I HAD NOT WENT TO FIRESTONE TO GET THE TIRES CHECKED I WOULD HAVE HAD A BLOWOUT ON THE FRONT AND BLAMED IT ON THE TIRES. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT THERE PROBLEM THAT THE BALL JOINTS ARE BAD BUT AT THIS TIME I AM DEALING WITH FORD MOTOR CO. CAR HAD DIED APPROX. 4 TIMES BEFORE LEADING UP TO THIS EVENT. ON EACH PRIOR OCCASION WE WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. WHEN WE CONTACTED FORD DEALER IN OK, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WITHOUT IT HAPPENING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THEIR POSSESSION. WE ATTRIBUTED IT TO BAD FUEL BECAUSE DEALER SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS WITH FORD. THEN CAR DIED FOR NO REASON, COULD NOT RESTART, HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. FORD REPAIR SHOP THOUGHT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY UNIT WHICH THEY REPLACED THEN THEY STILL COULDN'T GET IT TO START. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE HARMONIC BALANCER HAD SEPARATED AND DAMAGED THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR AND THAT WAS WHY IT WOULDN'T START TO A TUNE OF $1100.0 WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT HAD 40,100 MILES AND THE WARRANTY EXPIRED @ 36,000 MILES. *TR
