WHILE DRIVING AT 3 MPH AND PULLING OUT FROM A STOP SIGN ANOTHER VEHICLE STOPPED IN FRONT OF CONSUMER'S VEHICLE. CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES, AND BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, CAUSING THE SUN ROOF TO BLOW OUT. AIR BAG ON DRIVER'S SIDE BROKE THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSAGER'S SIDE. *AK

DROVE 2000 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GTP APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES. PARKED IN HOME DRIVEWAY. ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER A MAN CAME TO THE DOOR STATING THE CAR WAS ON FIRE (HE HAD ALREADY CALLED 911). FIRE DEPT. AND POLICE ON THE SCENE AS WELL AS FIRE INVESTIGATOR WHO STATED IT APPEARED TO HAVE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT UNDER THE HOOD AT ABOUT THE FRONT DRIVER'S TIRE. CAUSE UNKNOWN. NO PROBLEMS DRIVING THAT EVENING, NO SERVICE LIGHTS ON. OIL CHANGED APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO INCIDENT. FROM WINDSHIELD TO FRONT COMPLETELY DESTROYED. HEAVY SMOKE DAMAGE ALSO INSIDE CAR AND IN TRUNK. FRONT TIRES AND FRONT END OF CAR MELTED TO DRIVEWAY. GAS TENSION ROD FROM HOOD "EXPLODED" AND SHOT THROUGH GARAGE DOOR (LUCKILY NO ONE WAS STANDING IN ITS WAY). *JB
