ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE SPIDER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT 25 - 30 MPH ON A NICE DAY WHEN THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. SHE STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE ALTERNATOR WERE THE SOURCE OF THE FIRE. THIS HAPPENED ON DECEMBER 23, 2006. THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE, THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD, LOST POWER, AND COASTED OUT OF TRAFFIC. SHE STATED THAT THE HORN BEGAN HONKING, AND SHE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. SHE COULD SEE FLAMES COMING OUT FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED BY ITSELF BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED. TO DATE THE DEALERSHIP HAD BEEN UNABLE TO TELL HER WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE BOTH 120,000. *AK

SERVICE BRAKES, AIR
FRONT BRAKES SQUEAL AND SQUEAK BADLY WHEN SLOWLY BRAKING SINCE SEPTEMBER 2006. I HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER X6 TIMES WITH THE SAME ISSUE. DEALER CONTINUES TO SAY ITS BECAUSE I "RIDE" MY BREAKS. I'VE HAD THE ROTORS RESURFACED X2, ROTORS REPLACED X1, BRAKE PAD X3. THE BRAKES TODAY 07/01/08, CONTINUE TO SQUEAL AND SQUEAK, DEALER STATES, THE BRAKES HAVE GOOD PAD, BUT ROTORS NEED TO BE RESURFACED DUE TO "GLAZE" THEY REPLACE THEM IN DEC. 2007 (ITS BEEN 10,000 MILES LATER) AND DEALER SAYS I NEED TO PAY FOR RESURFACING. THE BACK BRAKES MAKES LOUD NOISE WHEN IN REVERSE. I REPORTED, BUT DEALER DID NOT FOLLOW UP. *TR
