I WAS PASSING ANOTHER CAR. I BEGAN TO INCREASE MY SPEED. THE READING OF MY SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO DECREASE & MY CAR BEGAN TO STOP PULLING, AS IF IT HAD LOST ITS ENERGY. I PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD. PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO IDLE UP CAR. NOTHING HAPPENED. TURNED CAR OFF & BACK ON. CAR BEGAN TO DRIVE NORMAL FOR ABOUT 5 DAYS. THEN IT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES IN ONE DAY. NEXT, I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY STATED IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT $520 TO REPAIR. I THOUGHT MY PLATINUM WARRANTY WOULD COVER THIS BUT, UNFORTUNATELY I WAS TOLD IT WOULDN'T. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MERCURY MILAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKING AND AT LESS THEN 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE SURGED AND ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED, JUMPING A CURB. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES WITH BOTH FEET IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE THEN SKIDDED SEVERAL FEET BEFORE THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THERE WAS NO RECORD OF THE FAILURE OCCURRING WITH OTHER MODELS AND THAT THERE WAS NO USE IN BRINGING THE VEHICLE FOR DIAGNOSIS BECAUSE THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. |
