PROBLEMS WITH 2001 YUKON XL'S ABS EQUIPMENT.*MR THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT DEFECTIVE EMERGENCY BRAKES, HOWEVER THEY FELL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE REPAIRS WERE VERY EXPENSIVE. PLEASE HELP IN COMPENSATING THE CONSUMER FOR DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED *CB *JB |

TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM |
WHILE DRIVING FROM GA TO LA ON CHRISTMAS EVE, MY YUKON XL WENT INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND LOST TRACTION CONTROL AND ANTILOCK BRAKES. THE CAR ALMOST INSTANTLY DROPPED FROM 72MPH TO 45MPH AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I WAS ADVISED BY ONSTAR TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND TURN IT OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES. WHEN I STARTED IT AGAIN, POWER WAS RESTORED, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE CAR WOULD PROBABLY DO THE SAME THING AND THAT I SHOULD HAVE IT SERVICED IMMEDIATELY, ON THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY, WHICH WAS MONDAY DECEMBER 27TH. WHILE DRIVING TO A DESTINATION ABOUT 30 MILES AWAY ON SUNDAY, THE CAR WENT INTO REDUCED POWER AGAIN AND THE WARNING LIGHTS RETURNED. THIS TIME TURNING THE ENGINE OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES DID NOT HELP AND POWER REDUCTION REMAINED. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WAS BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, BUT THAT THE PART WAS BACKORDERED AT THE FACTORY, SO MY VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. I CALLED MY DEALER IN GA TO SEE IF THEY HAD THE PART, BUT THEY ALSO HAD TWO ON BACKORDER FOR TWO OTHER CUSTOMERS. AS A RESULT, MY VEHICLE, WHICH IS ONLY A YEAR OLD AND UNDER WARRANTY, CANNOT BE REPAIRED AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAYS. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, I DISCOVERED THAT MANY PEOPLE DRIVING GM VEHICLES ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR |
