POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
MY FORD F150 TRUCK HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION, WITH A HYDRAULIC CLUTCH CYLINDER, WHICH IS INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION HOUSING. A FEW YEARS AFTER I GOT THE TRUCK, THE HYDRAULIC CLUTCH CYCLINDER, INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION HOUSING, STARTED LEAKING FLUID, JUST AFTER THE MANUFACTURERS 3-YEAR WARRANTY RAN OUT. SOMETIMES THE HYDRAULIC CLUTCH CYLINDER LOSES ALL THE FLUID OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME (SEVERAL MONTHS), AND SOMETIMES IT LOSES ALL OF THE FLUID IN A FEW DAYS. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS ON THE FREEWAY, AND I PUSHED IN THE CLUTCH TO DISENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE TRAFFIC WAS SLOWING DOWN IN FRONT OF ME, AND THE CLUTCH DID NOT WORK. IT WAS FORTUNATE THAT AN ACCIDENT DID NOT RESULT.
