ON DODGE CHARGERS WITH POLICE PACKAGES, THE TRANSMISSION USES A COLUMN SHIFT. THE TRANSMISSION CABLE CAN POP OUT OF THE BRACKET UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN AND CAUSE AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE THE DRIVER THINKS THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK ACCORDING TO THE SHIFT LEVER AND PRNDL BUT THE VEHICLE CAN STILL ROLL BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT IN PARK

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THERE WAS A LOUD BANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT HAD BECOME FRACTURED BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TRANSFER CASE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WANTED THEM TO SEND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION BACK TO BE INSPECTED INSTEAD OF REPAIRING IT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS GOING TO SEND AN ENTIRELY NEW TRANSMISSION, DRIVE SHAFT AND TRANSFER CASE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 5,000. *TR
