I NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL STIFFENING DURING TURNS. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP & WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR AND POWER STEERING PUMP. THESE REPAIRS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY & WILL COST $1,876.31 TO REPAIR! THE SERVICE ADVISOR COULD NOT EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THE COMPLETE STEERING GEAR GOES OUT ON A VEHICLE W/52,000 MILES ON IT! I AM BEYOND ANGRY, NOT TO MENTION, I ALSO FEEL VIOLATED. I HAVE RESEARCHED TO SEE IF OTHER OWNERS ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUES! THESE ARE NOT A COINCIDENCES! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 15 MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT COASTED OFF ROAD, SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PERFORM NORMALLY BUT THE FAILURE SOON RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR REPAIR WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HAVING LEAKS IN THE POWER STEERING PUMP AS WELL AS THE RACK AND PINION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,632.
