TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. UPON ARRIVING HOME, HE DISCOVERED THAT HE COULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE. CHEVROLET HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 53,673. UPDATED 12/12/07 |

MY VEHICLE IS A 2002 TRAILBLAZER LTZ. IT HAS THE "MEMORY" MIRROR OPTION WHICH FEATURES MEMORY SET OPTIONS FOR DRIVER 1 AND DRIVER 2, AS WELL AS REARVIEW CURB ASSISTANCE (THE MIRRORS WILL TILT DOWN TO YOUR SETTING TO HELP PARALLEL PARK WHEN IN REVERSE). THIS OPTION WORKED GREAT FOR A WHILE. THEN, THE MIRRORS STARTED ACTING ERRATICALLY. THEY WOULD CLICK EXCESSIVELY, TILT TOWARDS THE SKY OR DOWN AT THE GROUND. THE MIRRORS QUIT HOLDING THEIR MEMORY, AND EVERY TIME I GOT INTO THE VEHICLE, I WOULD HAVE TO RESET THE MIRRORS. THE WORRISOME PART OF THIS IS THAT THE MIRRORS WILL NOT HOLD THE RESET EITHER AND WHILE DRIVING, THE MIRRORS MOVED. I DRIVE THE INTERSTATE EVERY DAY AND WHEN I CHECKED THE MIRROR TO CHANGE LANES, FOUND MYSELF LOOKING UP AT THE CLOUDS OR DOWN AT THE ROAD. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!. (I WON'T EVEN FACTOR IN THE ANNOYANCE ASPECT.) MY 17 YEAR OLD DOESN'T UNDERSTAND WHY I WON'T TEACH HER TO DRIVE IN THE "NEWER" CAR AND I EXPLAINED THAT I ACTUALLY FEEL LIKE SHE'S SAFER, IN THE 96 SATURN COUPE, BECAUSE THE MIRRORS ARE RELIABLE. I'VE SEEN THIS COMPLAINT ON SEVERAL SITES AND I SERIOUSLY HAVE TO WONDER WHY THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ON SOMETHING THAT IS FUNDAMENTALLY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR |
