ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 65 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHIFT OUT FOURTH GEAR. THE CONTACT STATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE LOW FUEL SENSOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING SENSORS ENGAGED. THE BRAKE AND ANTI LOCK SENSORS ILLUMINATED BUT DID NOT REMAIN ON CONSISTENTLY. THE ODOMETER ALSO BEGAN TO FLUCTUATE ON THE CONTROL PANEL. THE FAILURE WAS CORRECTED TEMPORARILY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE BODY CONNECTOR MODULE GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 178,000.

STEERING
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HILL AND MY CAR MADE A "DING NOISE" THREE TIMES AND ON THE DISPLAY IT SAID POWER STEERING AT WHICH TIME IT MADE A CLICKING NOISE AND I COULD BARELY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, I MADE IT ABOUT 3 FEET WITH THE CAR "BUCKING" AND WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND SAT THERE AND TURNED MY CAR OFF AND THEN TURNED IT ON THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD ONLY TURN SLIGHTLY AND MY CAR WOULD NOT REVERSE. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO AND I HAD IT FIXED FOR $800 AND NOW IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN. I AM FEARFUL THAT THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND I DON;T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY POWER STEERING. I HAD A NEW ENGINE PUT IN LAST YEAR AND ALL THIS FOR A CAR THAT IS ONLY 7 YRS OLD. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO KEEP REPLACING PARTS AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS NOT A SAFE CAR FOR MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN. *TR
